The Present And The Problem
Which Congressional Committees in the House and
Senate have responsibility for oversight of federal contracting?
The answer is just about any one that wants it. Why is that?
Well, some congressional committees oversee an agency's programs are
program committees with jurisdiction over entire programs or
agencies. Other congressional committees have jurisdiction
over all agency functions. Then there are agencies that are
overseen by multiple committees in the House and Senate. Worse
yet, all committees and subcomittees are chaired by politicians.
House Committee on Oversight and Government
Reform
- It has jurisdiction to investigate any
federal program and any matter with federal policy implications.
House Committee on Armed Services
- The Department of Defense generally,
including the Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force
generally.
Senate Committee on Homeland Security and
Governmental Affairs
- The committee shall have the duty of
studying the efficiency, economy, and effectiveness of all
agencies and departments of the Government.
Senate Armed Services Committee
- The Department of Defense, the Department
of the Army, the Department of the Navy, and the Department of the
Air Force, generally
Senate Committee on Energy and Commerce

Energy
House Committee on Science and Technology

demonstration, and projects therefor, and all Federally owned or
operated nonmilitary energy laboratories.

the Small Business Administration (SBA) and its programs and
provides protection for small businesses.
Senate Committee on Small Business and
Enrepreneurship

petitions, memorials, and other matters relating to the Small
Business Administration (SBA).
