Posted June 4Jun 4 comment_92606 We have a requirement to procure a commercial coworking space for one year. The Senior Realty Officer of our agency stated that coworking agreements can be procured as a non-real estate contract for services. I am trying to verify whether it really is a non-real estate service. Could someone please point me to the part in the FAR that coworking space would fall under? Thank you.

June 5Jun 5 Author comment_92617 Hi Don. Yes, it’s something similar to Regus. The requirement is for a satellite office space for a federal employee in Alaska. It looks like GSA has a contract for commercial coworking space where they will compete task orders on an agency’s behalf. However, the specified vendor is not a contract holder, and the customer has a justification for selecting this particular vendor. The vendor is on GSA though. My coworker has contacted the GSA point of contact for more information regarding the commercial office space contract. While we await their response, I am tasked with investigating this further.Thanks.

Some of the language in the link suggests why GSA, and I would think an agency could view, the need as a service rather than a real estate transaction.
