Federal Acquisition Institute and workforce training

It looks like FAI will have a new role when the 2012 Defense Authorization Bill gets signed. Included in the bill is several changes affecting FAI and civialian workforce training. It provides for the following:

?Creates an associate administrator in OFPP which is the head of FAI to oversee workforce programs

?Requires the OFPP administrator to recommend to GSA a budget for FAI to support government-wide training and standards development - so GSA will be funding the cost of FAI

?Creates a formal FAI board of directors to oversee what OFPP does and helps ensure they meet the objectives in the legislation.

?Requires FAI to work with OFPP and develop government-wide training standards and certification requirements also working with OPM.

?Requires OFPP to create guidelines agencies should follow for internship and training programs through FAI.
