governmentcontracts
Why are the approval threshholds at FAR 13.501 greater than the $6.5 million ($12 million for FAR 13.500(e)) limit for the test program for commercial items? Is this an oversight or am I missing a valid reason?
Deaner
It would seem you wouldn't need approval for limits exceeding what the test program allows. Perhaps in certain circumstances you would need approval exceeding the stated thresholds. FAR 18.201(e ) and 18.202(d ) describes how the threshold limits for the test program may increase. governmentcontracts
Are FAR 18.201(e) and 18.202(d) stating the thresholds may be increased to $12 million as stated in FAR 13.500(e), or to another limit?
ji20874
I think your real question is why include the higher thresholds in FAR 13.501 if you can never go that high? Good question. The thresholds in FAR 13.501 are, in my opinion, purposefully the same as the thresholds in FAR 6.304, 8.405-6, and 16.505( b )( 2 ).
governmentcontracts
ji20874: Spot on. Is this an oversight or is there a legitimate reason to put thresholds in this section that are irrelevant?
ji20874
I don't know. I think the purpose was to keep all of them the exact same, to minimize future FAR editing challenges.
