Contracting123
Is the SF-18, Request for Quotations, a valid form to use when soliciting for a non-complex construction project under the SAT? My interpretation of FAR 13.003(g), and 13.307, is that the SF-18 is not precluded from use. However, FAR 36.701 does not speak to the SF-18 at all. Don Mansfield
Assuming that you are soliciting quotes, not offers, I think so. FAR 13.000 states: This part prescribes policies and procedures for the acquisition of supplies and services, including construction, research and development, and commercial items, the aggregate amount of which does not exceed the simplified acquisition threshold... One such procedure is the described at FAR 13.307((1): Except when quotations are solicited electronically or orally, the SF 1449; SF 18, Request for Quotations; or an agency form/automated format may be used. FAR 36.701 is silent on what to use for soliciting quotes--which shouldn't be read as limiting your ability to use the SF 18.
Guest carl r culham
A quick look at FAR Part 53, supports use of the SF-18 as well. Borrowing from this reference donot forget about your agency specific regulations as well as it may provide guidance too.
