Vern Edwards
For those who are interesting in contracts and contracting—as distinct from how to work one's way through the maze of bureaucratic rules and procedures in FAR and agency policy documents—I have found an excellent collection of nine papers. They were prepared for a symposium conducted by the Lean Construction Institute, https://leanconstruction.org/ , in 2005. The symposium focused on relational contracting. The titles of the papers are: Relational Contracting and Lean Construction Flexibility in Long-Term Contractual Relationships: The Role of Co-operation Relational Contracting: Creating Value Beyond the Project Integrated Project Delivery: An Example of Relational Contracting PPC 2000: Association of Consultant Architects Standard Form Of Project Partnering Contract Project Alliancing: A Relational Contracting Mechanism for Dynamic Projects Relational Contracts: NEC [New Engineering Contract] In Perspective The Application Of Lean Principles To In-Service Support: A Comparison Between Construction And The Aerospace And Defence Sectors Sutter Health: Developing a Contracting Model to Support Lean Project Delivery These papers should be of interest to those who want to learn more about contract planning, formation, and performance, especially those who buy long-term and complex services (construction is a service) in a project environment. They may not be of interest to those who are interested mainly in government acquisition rules and procedures. The collection is 112 pages long and is downloadable as a single pdf document at: https://leanconstruction.org/uploads/wp/media/docs/lcj/V2_N1/LCJ_05_V2N1.pdf
formerfed
Some really good reading. Thanks for posting these, Vern. I must say also don’t try the first one right before bed. You probably won’t make it halfway through. Excellent information and perspective but long to read.
Vern Edwards
I wouldn't try any of them right before bed. 😂 (I think you meant the second one. The first one is only three and one-half pages.)
