Life Moves Pretty Fast: Thank You, SmallGovCon Readers

As many clients and friends of Koprince Law LLC already know, I announced last week that I will be retiring from the active practice of law, effective May 10. As that date draws closer, I will also step down from my role as editor of SmallGovCon, where I’ve written over 1,100(!) posts.

But fear not! Koprince Law and SmallGovCon will continue on, good as ever (albeit with slightly fewer references to things like boneless chicken wings). My colleague Matt Schoonover, a current Partner at the firm, will step into my shoes as Koprince Law’s Managing Partner, and my colleague Shane McCall will take over as SmallGovCon‘s editor.

I come from a long family history of teaching, and in recent years, my professional passions have turned more and more in that direction. After May 10, you’ll find me teaching, writing and continuing to generally make a nuisance of myself when it comes to the world of government contracting, like my recent commentary on the Section 809 Panel’s recommendation to eliminate most DoD small business set-asides.

I may even pop in for the occasional guest post on SmallGovCon (unless Shane does something crazy, like institute a policy banning references to ’80s movies). But I will also downshift, away from a full-time work schedule, which will give me more time with my family while my kids are still young enough to think that hanging out with their Dad is kinda cool.

I am very fortunate to be in a position to make a mid-career shift out of personal interest, instead of necessity. I’m extraordinarily grateful to everyone who has made it possible for me to pursue this dream: my amazing family, the incredible team of attorneys and other professionals here at Koprince Law, and all the friends and professional colleagues I’ve made throughout government and industry over my years in legal practice.

When I started SmallGovCon, I worried that no one would read it. Suffice it to say, I was wrong. I’m thrilled to hand SmallGovCon over to Shane and our team of attorney-authors to keep providing you with the latest and greatest (or not so greatest) in government contracting news and commentary.

As a wise man once said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in awhile, you could miss it.”

Thank you for reading. And thank you for the chance to stop and look around.
