SmallGovCon Week In Review: September 9 – September 13, 2019

The last days of summer are upon us and fall is right around the corner. Here in Lawrence, we’ve been getting a second round of tomatoes in local gardens and at the farmer’s market. It’s a great time for those of us that like to eat tomatoes. (Apologies to Tom Brady). It’s also a great time for consumers of federal government contracting news, as there are some interesting tidbits this week. For instance, we’ve been hearing about the bribery charges for FEMA officials, examples of malicious

Happy Friday! Here at Koprince Law, we’ve been busy posing for pictures for our new firm website (coming soon) and enjoying our annual trip to the Taste of Lawrence event last night, where we were able to enjoy food from local restaurants, hear live music and interact with the community. Even with all that fun we have managed to bring you this edition (albeit a little later in the day) of SmallGovCon Week In Review. In this week’s edition, we bring you the latest on the ENCORE III bid protest,

Happy Friday, SmallGovCon Readers. The sunflower, which is the state flower or Kansas, are in full bloom. They have been spectacular this season! Sunflowers exhibit a trait called heliotropism, which means that they turn to face the sun. The tallest sunflower ever recorded was 30 feet tall! Wow! I haven’t seen one that tall but they sure are beautiful. We hope you can get out and enjoy the September flowers in your neck of the woods and here’s a few noteworthy articles on federal goverment

Football season is back, and the Chiefs certainly gave those in our neck of the woods something to cheer for last night. I wish I could say I felt sorry for our SmallGovCon Patriots fans, but those five Super Bowl Rings ought to take the sting out of an opening-week loss. I’ll be watching my share of football on Sunday, but before the weekend starts, it’s time for the SmallGovCon Week In Review.  In this edition, two Arkansas men are headed to trial on procurement fraud charges, GSA awarded a $

I think it’s safe to say that most everyone is ready for fall. There was a lot of activity this week in federal government contracting. We have included some articles that we hope will be of interest, including updates on the 8(a) Program, and a lot of changes on the IT front for federal agencies. Enjoy the weekend! It’s already October! Can you believe it? The leaves on our trees are starting to turn beautiful shades of yellow, red and orange and the temperatures are finally starting to cool down after a very hot and humid summer. A lot has been happening this week in federal government contracting as contractors braced for a government shut down. Here are a few articles that we think are noteworthy. Fall is officially here, and that means that the leaves are turning color, it’s apple-picking season, and football is a big part of my typical weekend (both on TV, and chasing around my three-year-old son as he scores touchdown after touchdown in our living room). But for those of us involved in federal government contracts, it’s hard to think of the fall without also thinking of the end of the government’s fiscal year, and all that it entails.  In this, the final SmallGovCon Week in Review of

It’s a sad day here at Koprince Law. Molly Schemm, who has been my fantastic legal executive assistant since before the firm’s doors even opened, is leaving to pursue new adventures in Alabama.  All of us here at the firm will miss Molly dearly–and we won’t be the only ones.  Molly’s warmth and professionalism have earned her many friends among our clients, too.  We wish Molly the very best. Before the weekend begins (and Molly begins her drive South), it’s time for your weekly dose of SmallGov

Happy Friday. It’s time to say goodbye to September and welcome in October already. Where does the time go? As I’m sure you all are aware, this week’s federal government contracting news is all about the possible government shut down and its impact on federal services and federal government contractors. Happy Fall Ya’ll! We’ve finally been getting a welcome taste of fall weather, after what seemed like a very long summer season. Hope you are enjoying the season change as much as we are. And next week, my colleague Matthew Schoonover will be at two PTAC events in Kansas. Be sure to check those out if you are in the area. College football is back. In Lawrence, that means we got to see what the Mad Hatter could do his first time on the field coaching at KU. As one writer put it, having a new coach makes “people pay at least temporary attention to Kansas football.” I hope the attention lasts a while. For those needing a break from football, or who always take a break from football, there are some interesting stories from the government contracting gridiron the past week. These include a former U.S. Army colonel

Happy Friday, Readers. We have had some contrasting weather conditions here in Kansas, this week. One day we are at 100 degrees and the next day we are in the 60’s. You know what they say in Kansas? If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute and it will change. That has certainly been true this week. I think I speak for all of us, when I say that the cooler temperatures of fall are a welcome change from the hot and dry conditions we have experienced throughout the summer. We hope you

Happy Friday, Readers! Our weather here in Kansas has decided it’s not quite ready to be cooler for Fall just yet. You can bet though, when it does, it will decide abruptly.
