Services Acquisition Reform Act
Anonymous  Posted on Monday, November 24, 2003 - 08:49 am:

Good Morning,

I was reading an article in the Washington Post this morning and it mentioned new contracting rules, known as the Services Acquisition Reform Act. Does anyone know where I can find additional information on this Reform Act? Thanks.

Look here under "Laws and Regulations" heading. It's listed under the "National Defense Authorization Act and SARA" discussion.

I just found the information that I needed in another section on the board. Please disregard this post. Thanks.

For the information of others, what had been proposed as the Services Acquisition Reform Act (SARA) was incorporated into various sections of the 2004 DOD Appropriations Act, Public Law 108-87.

Vern, SARA is incorporated into the National Defense Authorization Act of Fiscal Year 2004, which the President is supposed to sign today.

Pub. L. 108-87 is the DOD Appropriations Act, a different law.

Jerry:

You're right. Thanks.

Will this have any effect on the FAR or just DOD?

Both. Read about it in Bob Antonio's analysis of the 2004 acquisition provisions in the Defense Authorization Act at http://www.wifcon.com/dodauth04.htm
